Artist statement: The artist is an avid reader and loves discovering new worlds in between the covers of a book. Combining that idea with her enjoyment of the Maguire gardens and the LACL architecture of which houses so many of her beloved titles, the artist sought to show how much beauty can be found in even just a single stack of books.

Artist bio: Chelsea Housand is a 28-year-old illustrator and designer with a BFA in Illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design. Chelsea primarily works in the entertainment industry making posters, merchandise, and album covers for a number of her favorite bands and music festivals. She loves connecting with her audience and helping them to memorialize a moment in time through her designs in an effort to remind them that there’s always more happiness to be found.
